A report is now available that provides an evaluation of the Bolton Health Mela, which took place on Saturday 9th March 2013 at Bolton One.

Supported by Bolton University and the Rotary Club, the event featured more than 30 stalls, all providing health information, support and advice.

In all, nearly 500 visitors signed in and 90 of them took advantage of the free health screening service.

  • There were several new cases of raised cholesterol, 8 of whom were not on treatment.
  • In addition there were 8 new cases of raised blood glucose, one of whom was not previously known to have diabetes.
  • A further 4 established cases were recognised for poor control of diabetes and 6 for poor control of cholesterol.

The tests were conducted by the Health Olympics and Blood Drop Team, supported by Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
