Sarifa currently works as Children and Young Persons Advocate (CYPA) in the SAFE Centre at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and serves the National Forum for Health and Wellbeing as a volunteer and as Trustee and Secretary.

Sarifa qualified as a Nurse in Blackburn in 1981. Her specialist areas include Orthopaedics, Public Health and Teaching. She was a Senior Sister in Accident and Emergency for 18 years with particular expertise  in the care of injured children and falls and fracture prevention in older persons. She has received a Nursing Times Award for work around Burns Injuries in young Children and also the 1st Beacon Award for Prevention of Children’s  Injuries.

During her career Sarifa has been involved in many fields of public health, networking with a wide range of professionals and strongly believes that health awareness is the key to healthier communities. Having been involved with the National Forum for Health and Wellbeing for the past 19 years she is looking forward to and preparing to celebrate its 20th Anniversary in 2021.
