Did you know that every year around 16,000 cases of choking are dealt with in UK hospitals 2500 of them involving children under 5? Some 200 deaths from choking are recorded each year!

To reduce the chances of events like this happening in South Ribble, the Rotary Club of Leyland has teamed up with St John Ambulance and the National Foundation for Health and Wellbeing to offer training in how to react when ‘something goes down the wrong way’.

Aimed particularly at workers in local hotels and restaurants, this is just one of the many experiences on offer at the Second Annual Leyland Health Mela, to be held in the Civic Centre, West Paddock, on Saturday, 14th September commencing at 11.00am.

You can also find out about local NHS facilities, take a ‘Health MOT’ including blood pressure, blood sugar, hearing, vision and dental checks, watch the entertainment and generally enjoy the fun.

Why not make a note in your diary and come along on the 14th?
